I would be very surprised if there was anyone on this planet who didn´t read about that topic... but of course I am sometimes naive about things like that.

Took a class on Islamic Feminist Ethics and that was one of the topics for a few weeks. @_@ It was depressing. And a very sensitive topic which made things awkward.

Ich stehe da auch etwas fassungslos davor. Aber wie ich schon gesagt habe: Ich bin oft etwas naiv.

Es ist ja auch so, dass viele Themen in den Medien total verhackstückt werden, vielleicht sogar zuviel. Aber gerade bei DIESEM Thema gibt es doch eigentlich kaum eine Chance, sich ihm zu entziehen.

Ich meine, Genitalverstümmelung ist ja nichts, was man anzweifeln kann - beim Klimawandel kann man von Medienhype sprechen und die wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse anzweifeln zum Beispiel. Aber wenn Mädchen auf diese Weise misshandelt werden, da gibt´s ja nun mal kein Ausweichen - das ist einfach eine Tatsache.

Aber vermutlich ist das nicht überall gleich. Ich merke schon, dass die Informationslage sehr unterschiedlich ist in den Ländern, in denen ich mich aufhalte - was in Deutschland ein großes Thema ist, kommt in Finnland gar nicht vor, und umgekehrt.
